15th September 2008	Welcome our new Site Secretary Sue has now handed over to Simon Wild - the new Low Moor Allotments Site Secretary. He can be contacted on the email and number above. A big thank you to Sue for all that she's done for Low Moor and a warm welcome to Simon.

11th August 2008	Wanted Two Site Secretaries Do you have some time to spare? Could you help run the allotments? For more information call into the Shop for an information sheet. 1st July 2008	Old shop gone, and site secretary away The old store has been demolished and the surface of the car park levelled as best as possible until further works are carried out. The Association Committee request that when parking up your vehicles two lines be formed. The first parallel to the new shop frontage facing the building and leaving approximately 6 feet between the vehicle and the shop; the second parallel to this but on the other side of the car p ark ie at right angles to Kilburn Road. It is also asked that when parking up that you place the number of your plot on the dashboard should it for any reason such as delivery etc be necessary for you to move your vehicle. Our Secretary, Sue Hughes is going on a well-reserved holiday between Thursday 3rd July and Monday 23rd July. She will not be contactable by telephone during that time, and e-mails will be dealt with on her return.
25th April 2008	AGM MINUTES & ASSISTANCE REQUIRED on 3rd MAY Please see the Meetings page for a copy of our latest AGM minutes. Your kind assistance is once again required with the new shop project on Saturday 3 May 9.30 am to 12.30 to carry out the following tasks. Clear the old shop of rubbish into the skip Fit the window strips to the new shop We also need an offer of someone to treat the new horizontal timbers and ends of new beams with green wood preservative prior to the morning of Saturday 3 May. If you are able to assist please either show up at the time above or let Frank (franksmith888@yahoo.com) or Angela (angelajohnson17@hotmail.com) know.
18th April 2008	WASTE SKIPS: 2nd - 6th May Two general waste skips will be delivered on Friday 2 May and collected Tuesday 06 May. As we no longer receive compost on delivery of a green skip we wish to encourage plot holders to compost rather than skip any green waste. This not only keeps the cost of skip hire down, but more importantly puts back the goodness in the soil and avoids further corrosion of the top soil lost during removal of weeds. Therefore please do not put any green waste into the skips. Please avoid overfilling the skips – check first before carrying your rubbish down to the car park. If the skips are already full don’t worry as there will be further skips throughout the year. On no account leave rubbish in the car park as it encourages further fly tipping. If you are unsure of how to compost large amounts of green waste created by digging over a plot then ask for advice in the shop. However one of the easiest ways is to pile it up in a corner and cover it with black plastic (available in the shop), after about a year everything will have broken down and can be deposited back over the plot.
31st March 2008	NEWSLETTER & AGM Our latest newsletter is out - you can either download it (61kB PDF file), read it on a notice board on site or pick up a copy from the shop. An important date for your diary is 20th April 11am when we're having our allotment association's AGM outside the new shop. Please spread the word and come along.
24th February 2008	5ft fruit trees (£4.50) and fruit bushes (£2.50) are now in stock at the shop. All the last and previous years' news items have been archived and can be found on the Archives page.
14th February 2008	IS YOUR ALLOTMENT WILD? WHY NOT FIND OUT? Christine Robertson is a recent graduate (MSc Biodiversity and Conservation) interested in promoting wildlife on the Low Moor Allotments. She is eager to share and develop knowledge about the creatures who share our plots and in the coming year she hopes that our allotments can host some educational and informative events. To start this off, it would be very helpful if you could take a few moments to fill in and return the Wildlife Habitat Assessment Form (a 35kB Word document). This will enable Christine to get a better picture of the wildlife features present at Low Moor Allotments, and also provides you a space to express your interests in wildlife. Soon there will also be a Wildlife Recording Form for download, which you can use for recording the wildlife present at Low Moor. In between you can contribute information by emailing Christine directly at her address which can be found at the bottom of the Wildlife Habitat Assessment Form. Thanks for your help!
2nd February 2008 Volunteers spread planting material on the to-be-green shop roof which will, unfortunately, have to come off and be strenghthened.	NEW SHOP OPENS Our new shop has opened for business. There's still plenty of work to be done but the shop is full of goodies for both budding and expericenced allotmenteers. The opening hours are Saturdays 12-2pm and Sundays 10am-12pm.
