Sat. 3rd May: BIRD WALK, ECO-ACTIVE DAY & CAMERA CLUB
meet at the Environment Centre

  • Bird Walk: starts at 10am
    Come join local ornithologist David Campbell on a walk through the nature reserve. Please bring binoculars if you have them. There are limited places on this walk so please book ahead.
  • Eco-Active Day: 10am-1pm
    Come help us with a task in the nature reserve. You will get a warm feeling and free lunch in return. Eco-Active Day = a great opportunity to be doing something useful outdoors, get lots of fresh air, maybe learn a new skill, get fit, meet like-minded people and drink cups of tea!   • Camera Club: 2-4pm
    Come join St Nicks camera club - new members welcome.

3rd-10th May: COMPOST AWARENESS WEEK - Help the Earth, Start Composting
You don’t even need a garden to compost your waste. Composting does not have to take up a lot of space or time, and it can save you money. It turns waste into nutrient-rich compost, and it helps the planet by diverting organic waste from landfill sites. To find out more, come to one of York Rotters' events or contact the Rotters' Officer.

    12.30 ‘Compost Mini Musical’ performance
    12–2pm compost clinic
  • Sun. 4th May, Rowntree’s Park
    2pm Annual Worm Charming competition - Prizes include a junior wormery. Entrants may bring their own worm charming equipment (watering cans, cardboard, drums etc.) but please do not bring garden forks or any other sharp implements. Meet at York Rotters' stall next to play area, registration 2-2:20pm.
  • Wed. 7th May, B&Q Hull Road
    10am–2pm compost clinic
  • Saturday 10th May, Treasurer’s House
    11am–4.30pm compost clinic
  • Saturday 10th May, York Environment Centre
    10am–12.30 a free ‘How to Compost’ training - Come and be amazed at the wide variety of waste which can be turned into fantastic compost and how easy it is!
    12.45–2pm ‘Train to be a York Rotter volunteer’
